Proactive
Peacemaker's Award ~ 2002
Back to Awards |
Nola
Drazdoff was selected by the Oregon Chapter of "A Season for Nonviolence"
to receive a Proactive Peacemaker's award for 2002. The award was
presented to her by Mary Manin Morrissy, Senior minister of Living
Enrichment Center in Wilsonville Oregon on Feb 3, 2002.
A Season for Nonviolence, January 30 - April 4, is a national 64-day
educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating
that nonviolence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower
our lives and our communities. Inspired by the 50th and 30th memorial
anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., this
international event honors their vision for an empowered, nonviolent
world.
Nola was selected to recognize the fact that who she is and the work
she does promotes a nonviolent world. She leads her Inspired Journey
Tours all over the globe in a manner that promotes curiosity, respect
and reverence amongst the people of our planet. She educates people
to look for the unity that connects all people while at the same time
honoring the diversity that makes our world such an amazing and interesting
place. She relies heavily on the belief of the Dalai Lama that all
we really need to do is to "make friends." That's what Nola
does all over the world... she makes friends.
ProActive Peace Maker Award: Nola Drazdoff is honored for her
outstanding contribution in creating a non-violent world.

The work that Nola does in the middle east, particularly in Israel
and Palestine, was a primary reason for her selection as the recipient
of this award. At the time of the award presentation she had made
a dozen trips to the middle east in less than 3 years time. Her goal
is always to build relationships, make connections and promote in
others a willingness to work for a better world by getting to know
each other better. She serves as a Peace Ambassador for Kids to Israel
and Palestine for the I
Am Foundation, an organization that gifts transformational books
and materials to children in crisis situations. Nola is actively involved
with spiritually based peace organizations such as the
Jerusalem Peacemakers that facilitate activities that work to bring Jews and
Arabs together, when all that is around them seems to work to tear
them apart. Nola is deeply committed to continue to travel to the
middle east and do all she can to promote a deep healing of the discord
there.

Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions,
slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures. And
however undramatic the pursuit of peace, that pursuit must go on.
~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy |

Nothing
on earth is more gentle and yielding than water,
Yet nothing is stronger.
When it confronts a wall of stone
Gentleness overcomes hardness;
The power of water prevails.
~ Tao 78 |
As Mary Manin Morrissey said when she presented the award to Nola,
"In every single way that I have known her I have seen her stand
up, speak out and show up for peace."
Nola is deeply honored to have been recognized by the Season for Nonviolence.
