DAY 1 - TRAVEL
Depart from USA and travel to Denpasar Bali. |
DAY 2 - UBUD
Arrive Denpasar Bali. We will be met at the airport by our tour guide. Board
the van and proceed to the artists' village of Ubud, our home for the next 6
days. Enjoy free time to relax, have a group dinner and spend a peaceful first
evening in Bali. Overnight in Ubud. |
DAY 3 - UBUD
Orientation to Bali... the Island of the Gods. During our first morning, our
guide will provide an orientation lecture and introduce us to some practical,
cultural and spiritual information that will help us understand and integrate
our experiences and assist us in being respectful of our hosts, the precious
Balinese people. We will go to see how Batik fabric is created at Tohpati
village. Visit a traditional Balinese house compound and learn about the
importance of spiritual principle in the Balinese architectural design process.
Explore the village of Mas, which specializes in wood carving. Visit Gunung
Kawi, the "Mountain of the Poets." It is an 11th century temple,
hand-hewn deep into volcanic rock. Although there are 'tombs' here, these were
never literally tombs. They simply touted the spiritual grandeur of the royalty
before and after death. There is a purifying pool nearby that we will walk to.

DAY 4 - UBUD
Attend a Barong dance at Batu Bulan village. We will see some silver and gold
jewelry/artistry and have time for shopping. In the village of Negari visit a
traditional Balinese healer, called a Balian. Balians are similar to Native
American Shamans. Lunch at Ceking
see a stunning view of the natural
splendor of Bali. Enjoy an opportunity for an elephant ride! Go to the village
of Petulu to witness a phenomenon of the return of thousands of white egrets
(birds) to spend the night in the trees of Petulu. This is a nightly occurrence
at about 5pm. See a performance of traditional Balinese dance in the evening.

DAY 5 - UBUD
Visit a King's Palace in Ubud. Visit a Balinese farm and learn about the fruits
and crops of Bali. On to Kintamani. See Lake Batur and the volcano, Mt. Batur.
Meet with the priest of Batur Temple, Jero Gede Duwuran who has a fascinating
story about his own spiritual journey in becoming a Balinese Hindu priest.
Possible visit to Batur Temple. Overnight in Ubud. |
DAY 6 - UBUD
Experience the sights, sounds and energy of the morning market in Ubud. Visit
the fascinating gong and gamelon foundry in Blahbatuh village. Visit an Endek
(woven material) factory. Meet with a Balinese Astrologer/Calendar maker in the
village of Bedulu. See a traditional Balinese dance performance. Overnight in
Ubud. |
DAY 7 - CANDI DASA
Travel to Candi Dasa on the eastern side of the island. On our way to Candi
Dasa we will see a 300 year old village, Pengelipuran in Bangli. Experience the
Besakih temple. For centuries, Besakih has been the supreme holy place of the
Balinese Hindus. Experience glorious views of the spectacular rice terraces and
beauty of Bali. Overnight in Candi Dasa. |
DAY 8 - CANDI DASA
Visit the Bali Aga (Original native Balinese village, pre-Hinduism) of
Tenganan. Visit the Balinese Hindu temple Goa Lawah, which is known for it's
thousands of inhabitants
bats! This cave is very sacred to the Balinese.
According to Balinese lore, the cave extends up to Pura Goa, a small temple in
Besakih (the most holy temple on Bali). The temple guarding the entrance to the
cave is thought to have been founded in 1007. Go to Tir Gangga, the water
palace in Karangasem. Swim in the waters of ancient royalty at this water
palace. Overnight in Candi Dasa. |
DAY 9 - LOVINA
Travel by van to the northern coast of Bali and the village of Lovina. Enjoy
the scenic beauty of the island as we wind through mountains and countryside.
It's a 4 hour drive from Candi Dasa to Lovina. We'll stop along the way to take
photographs and breaks. Overnight in Lovina. |
DAY 10 - LOVINA
Experience the healing waters of a natural hot spring in the morning. Then,
visit a Buddhist monastery in Banjar Seririt area. Visit an Islamic mosque in
Lovina. Spend the afternoon snorkeling off the coral reef of Lovina beach and
perhaps a boat trip to possibly see some dolphins. Overnight in Lovina. |
DAY 11 - SANUR
Travel by van to the southern beach village of Sanur, site seeing along the
way. Visit a forest and feed the very interesting and sometimes mischievous
monkeys. Visit Beratan lake the charming Balinese Hindu temple of Ulun Danu
Beratan. This temple honors Dewi Danu, the goddess of the lake, and is the
sacred water temple for north, south and east Bali. Stop by a coffee farm.
Experience the delight to the senses of an exotic fruit and flower market.

DAY 12 - SANUR
Visit the Taman Ayun Temple at Menguwi. Taman Ayun is a serene temple
surrounded by a lake-like moat and was built in 1634 and is one of the most
elegant examples of the Balinese ability to combine site, materials and water.
Visit the monkey forest of Alas Kedaton, where more than 700 friendly monkeys,
divided into three major families, inhabit the forest. Visit the 15th century
temple of Tanah Lot, perched precariously above the sea on an outcrop of rock.
The Balinese consider Tanah Lot to be one of the most holy places on the Island
of Bali. Overnight in Sanur. |
DAY 13 - SANUR
Visit the magnificent Ulu Watu temple on the cliffs over the ocean. Free time
for exploring Sanur's market, beach, etc. Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet) show at
the hotel. Overnight in Sanur. |
DAY 14 - SANUR
Free day in Sanur for shopping, relaxing and preparation for the journey home.
Overnight in Sanur. |
DAY 15 - Travel
to USA
Free morning in Sanur to pack up for home. Depart Denpasar Bali for USA. |
